ISSAK VHS

The ISSAK (Institut für Strukturforschung und Erwachsenenbildung der Arbeiterkammer) VHS was established in 1947. It is a subsidiary association of the Austrian Chamber of Labours, which is sustained by social partnership. The ISSAK-adult education centre views education as a learning process which continues throughout life and which comprehends the cognitive, affective und physical dimensions, in other word, the whole person. Its work is focused on the learners' needs and requirements but also tries to make people aware of needs and requirements they might forget about in every day life.

About 4000 courses with about 60.000 participants take place every year. Statistically, more than 10% of all participants are senior students (aged 60+), the number is strongly increasing.
